Privacy Policy

Debt Bridge operates as an introducer and referral service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information whenever you use our website or services. In most cases, our lawful basis for processing your information is contractual necessity  that is, we need your information to provide the service you’ve asked for. In certain situations, we’ll also ask for your explicit consent — for example, before recording or sharing special category data, or before sending you marketing about our services or related third-party services.

Debt Bridge is an introductory service. We do not provide regulated debt advice or financial advice ourselves, and we are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Where appropriate, we introduce you to authorised, regulated debt advice firms and licensed Insolvency Practitioners, who carry out a full assessment of your circumstances and provide any regulated advice.

What Personal Information Do We Collect?

To provide our service under our agreement with you, we collect personal information that identifies you. The categories below set out what we collect, and why.

Identity Information

Examples: name, date of birth, age, passport or driving licence details.

We need this to confirm who you are and to stay in contact with you throughout your enquiry. This information is required, and cannot be provided on an opt-out basis.

Financial Information

Examples: income, outgoings, assets, liabilities, bank statements, benefit details, payslips, tax returns, default history, County Court Judgments, and existing credit history.

Our regulated partners need this information to deliver certain services — for example, to make payments to your creditors on your behalf. Not every enquiry requires this level of detail, but formal debt solutions such as an IVA or DMP cannot proceed without it. This information is required and cannot be opted out of where such a solution applies.

Employment Information

Examples: employment status, occupation, pay date, salary, and any relevant professional status.

This helps us and our partners assess which debt solutions you may be eligible for. It isn’t needed for every enquiry, but is required for formal solutions such as insolvency and debt management arrangements.

Household Information

Examples: marital status, number and approximate ages of any dependants, household composition.

This is used to assess what you can realistically afford to repay. It isn’t always required, but is necessary for formal debt solutions.

Health Information

Examples: physical or mental health conditions.

We may ask for this to identify if you need extra support or have particular vulnerabilities. Unlike the categories above, you can choose not to provide this information.

Who Controls Your Data?

Debt Bridge is the data controller for the personal information you provide to us. Where your enquiry is passed to a regulated debt advice partner or licensed Insolvency Practitioner, they become a separate data controller for the information they hold about you, and their own privacy notice will apply to how they use it.

Registered data controller: JR Outsourcing & Marketing Ltd, trading as Debt Bridge Solutions (Company Number: 14660427) Typical services covered: Introductions to regulated debt advice and related services

How Do We Receive Your Information?

We may receive your information directly from you, or from a third party acting on your behalf, your creditors, your bank, credit reference agencies, law enforcement, or a legal representative. Occasionally, a health professional may provide information relevant to your circumstances, where relevant to identifying support needs.

How Do We Use Your Information?

Our main legal basis for processing your information is contractual necessity: we collect your details in order to understand your situation and introduce you to a suitably authorised debt advice firm or Insolvency Practitioner for a full assessment. Where we need to process special category data (such as health information), or use your details for marketing, we will always ask for your explicit consent first, and you’ll be clearly told when this applies.

In limited circumstances, we may also rely on:

  • Vital interests — for example, where processing is necessary to protect someone’s life or safety
  • Legitimate interests — for example, anonymised statistical reporting to improve our service

Our core purpose in processing your information is to understand your circumstances and connect you with the right kind of regulated support — whether that’s debt advice, an insolvency solution, debt management support, or related services.

Sharing Your Information

To provide our service, we need to share your details with other organisations — without this, we wouldn’t be able to connect you with the help you’re looking for. This typically includes:

  • Regulated debt advice firms and licensed Insolvency Practitioners, who we introduce you to for a full assessment of your circumstances
  • Service providers who support our operations, such as quality monitoring, data processing, marketing, auditing, or administrative support — most are based in the UK, though some may operate outside the UK/EU. All providers are checked to confirm they handle data securely and appropriately
  • Law enforcement, regulators, or government bodies, where we’re legally required to share information
  • A spouse, partner, carer, or appointed representative, but only with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time

When you submit your details through our website, your enquiry may be shared with regulated debt advice firms and licensed Insolvency Practitioners so that they can contact you about your enquiry. These partners do not receive your information in order to market unrelated products — only to assess your circumstances, explain whether a debt solution may be suitable, and set out any relevant fees, risks, and next steps.

Any firm that contacts you following an introduction from us does so in its own capacity, and is responsible for the regulated advice or service it provides.

Your details may be used to contact you by phone, email, SMS, or other electronic means in relation to your enquiry.

Your Rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. This is usually free, though a small administrative fee may apply for repeated or excessive requests. We’ll respond within one month.
  • Correction — ask us to correct any inaccurate information. We’ll update our records within one month of being notified.
  • Deletion — ask us to delete your information, where consent has been withdrawn or another legal ground applies. We’ll respond within one month.
  • Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances, such as while you dispute its accuracy.
  • Portability — request your information in a structured, commonly used format, and have it sent directly to another organisation where feasible, free of charge.
  • Object to automated decision-making — challenge any decision made about you using automated processing alone, and request human review.
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, where we rely on consent to process your data. Note that withdrawing consent for certain information may mean we’re unable to continue providing our service, where that information is contractually necessary.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in the “How to Contact Us” section below.

How We Secure and Retain Your Data

We keep your information for as long as we have an active relationship with you, and typically for up to six years after your enquiry or case closes, in line with our legal and regulatory obligations. Information we no longer need is securely deleted or destroyed. Where paper records are used, they may be scanned and stored digitally for safekeeping.

We use appropriate physical and digital security measures to protect your information, and we test these regularly. If a data breach occurs that affects you, we’ll notify you without undue delay. Please also let us know promptly if you believe your information may have been compromised.

You’re responsible for keeping your own passwords and account details secure, including information you share elsewhere, such as on social media.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can contact us directly, or raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at www.ico.org.uk.

Marketing

If you register with us or use our services, we may use your details to send you relevant updates about your enquiry. Where we’d like to send you wider marketing about our services, we’ll only do so with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

We do not share your details with third parties for their own marketing purposes without your explicit consent. Routine service communications — such as updates on your enquiry or regulatory notices — are not considered marketing and are sent as part of delivering our service to you.

Credit Reference Agencies

We may disclose your personal data to trusted partners for the purpose of obtaining credit report information, which may include data from Equifax Ltd, Experian Ltd, and TransUnion. To understand how credit reference agencies use and share personal data, including their own legitimate interests, please see their Credit Reference Agency Information Notices (CRAIN):
